Habersham Federal Credit Union
Habersham FCU

In the spring of 1978 a small group of school officials following the leadership of Mr. Warren T. Wilkinson, met in the library of South Habersham Junior High School and the concept of a credit union was presented. The school superintendent, Mr. Max Cash, was receptive to the idea and gained the support of the Board of Education to allow the credit union to operate from the school system offices. The credit union began business with Mr. Mark Alley serving as Treasurer, and today Mr. Alley serves as President of HFCU.  The credit union has now branched out with its own main office in Clarkesville, GA and has recently added a new branch office in Homer, GA. Additionally, HFCU has gone from a “plain vanilla” offering, to providing services such as Savings, Checking, IRA, Share Certificates, Online Banking and numerous loan options.  In February 2011 HFCU was granted a community charter allowing them to serve anyone who lives, works, worships, or attends school in Rabun, Habersham, or Banks County.
